Hello, my name is Libby, and I am the Play Fairy.

My work is rooted in a simple belief: children deserve rich lives, and play is essential to being human. Play is biological. It is what young animals do naturally to learn about themselves, each other, and the world. It is how children discover who they are and what it feels like to be alive.

My background is in biology, graphic design, early childhood education, and I have spent years working directly with children in preschools, special education, and childcare.

Over the past several years, I have studied playwork and been in conversation with playworkers from the UK, which has deeply shaped the way I think about children and play. I believe children are capable, curious, and constantly making sense of the world around them. They need time, space, interesting materials, and adults who trust them enough to observe before stepping in.

Play does not need to be constantly directed, improved, or turned into a lesson. Children are already doing important work when they play. Play Fairy grew from this understanding.

I create abundant, open-ended environments where children can move things, combine things, build, carry, experiment, take things apart, change their minds, and turn materials into whatever they need them to become. My role is not to tell children what to make or how to play. My role is to create the conditions for play and then pay attention.

I care deeply about the quality of children's everyday lives. I want children to feel safe, loved, trusted, and part of the whole. I want them to have enough time, enough space, and enough possibility to become completely absorbed in what they are doing.

Play Fairy is more than toys or activities. It is a space for exploration, connection, experimentation, imagination, risk, movement, and joy. At the heart of it all is a commitment to respecting and protecting a child's right to play.
